Children on the Edge is a child rights organisation that supports some of the world’s most marginalised children, living in the toughest situations, including war zones, refugee crises and slums in Bangladesh, India, Uganda, Myanmar, and Lebanon.

Story

                                          The Rohingya Crisis

Since August 25th 2017 around 700,000 Rohingya's from the Rakhine state, have fled their homes in Myanmar and into Bangladesh. They are fleeing from abhorrent violence and abuse. The risks to the safety of their lives are increasing every day, including a premature and fallible deal to repatriate the Rohingyas. The international community are offering little (if any) support and therefore it is left to the Rohingya community themselves to navigate this precarious and vulnerable time, with the added support of charities such as Children on the Edge.

                                           Children on the Edge

Children on the Edge have worked with the Rohingya community in Bangladesh for over 7 years. In the recent event, they have helped provide necessary food parcels, key infrastructural help such as providing thousands of lights so life can continue in the camps at nights and help to facilitate a child right's based education run by Rohingya teachers. They are a great example of a charity, led by the interests and needs of the recipients themselves rather then being led by donors or their own interests.

                                     The Hackney Half Marathon

I am running the Hackney Half Marathon on May 20th! With 8 weeks to go I am asking for all the support and help possible from friends, family, past and present colleagues to keep me motivated over this time and of course ask for any donations to this worthy cause.

                                           My Commitments

Quit smoking:

Which I've almost achieved! I've had a few wobbles on the odd weekend so for the next 8 weeks I will commit to a policy of: "Not one cig!". If you would like to sponsor me on this condition I will post you personal weekly, honest updates on this progress and give you your money back from my own pocket if I fail.

Running that half marathon!

I'll keep you up dated on my weekly mileage! It's my first ever long distance run so it certainly won't be a 'walk' in the park.
