The Southwell Minster Choral Association is a small charity that supports the lay clerks and choristers of Southwell Minster which is the cathedral of the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. It draws its young choristers both boys and girls from the local choir school who give of their time generously to develop their musical skills and enrich the musical life of the Minster in its worship. The Minster Choir is led and supported by professional musicians and performs to the highest standards of the English Cathedral choral tradition. The SMCA raises money to reward the choristers efforts by providing day trips and trips to France to visit and perform in the twinned Norman town of Sees. It also supports the adult Minster Chorale and sponsors musical events in the Minster and State Chamber. The Cathedral Cycle Relay is exploring cycle routes to link all of England's cathedrals and I shall be riding on the 33 mile leg from Southwell to Derby Cathedral.
