2010 Edinburgh Marathon · 23 May 2010 ·
Our baby girl, Millie Rose, was born last year on 21st April. She was born very prematurely at only 26 weeks gestation (14 weeks early) and weighed just 2lbs. She was very sick with infections during her time (3 long months) in hospital and on a couple of occasions no one knew if she would pull through.
Here is the link to her diary which we updated while she was in hospital: http://www.totsites.com/tot/milliestockham/journalHowever she was a little fighter and we managed to get her home around her due date in late July. She has been one of the lucky ones as so many babies born that early sadly die or come home with long term problems.
I made a promise to Millie on day 2 of her life (when she was very poorly) that if she pulled through I would run the marathon to raise money for charity. So true to my word I will be attempting to complete the Edinburgh Marathon on May 23rd in an effort to raise funds for Tommy's.
Tommy's fund three research centres in the UK, including St Thomas' in London, St Mary’s in Manchester and the recently established Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh (where Millie was born) which focus their research efforts on different issues relating to pregnancy.
