We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fund raising page in aid of Interlink's chosen charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

WE DID IT !!

On Sunday 18th August we set off, albeit an hour later than planned, from Breakthrough Breast Cancer's Head Office in Holborn heading for Eastbourne.

We cleared the London traffic (yes there's still plenty of it at that time on a Sunday) and crossed Waterloo Bridge en route for Croydon, the North Downs and the M25 (crossing over it not riding along it!).

A few punctures slowed us down a bit but a very welcome sausage sandwich stop at my Mum & Dad's in East Grinstead revived us and we were also joined there by Rick & Scott. Hannah & Aidan's banner informing us we were nearly there was very much appreciated if a little optimistic.

On from there through the Sussex countryside but also battling with the Rotherfield hill which tested us after several hours in the saddle.

Another climb into Heathfield and then thankfully mainly downhill along the cuckoo trail into Eastbourne. A late rerouting due to the Eastbourne Air Show making the pier inaccessible saw us arrive at Eastbourne Borough FC at approximately 4.15pm after more than 75 miles and 6 hours cycling for a very welcome celebratory beer.

We were supported throughout by our support team of Mike, Gina, Sam, Chris, Terry & Teddy who cheered us along and provided much needed refreshments at regular intervals.

Thanks to John, Mostyn, Rob, Stew, Rick & (partly; there's another story!) Scott for your companionship along the way and Well Done to us all !

Thanks very much for your support and donations especially as all the money we raised will be matched by the Interlink Head Office thus doubling the benefit to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We can now rest and we have 2 years to start planning our next 'challenge'.

Thanks again

David
