Story
Coming up to a year of Kristian Greer passing, I’ve decided to run in his memory with the blessing of his mum, Kristina.
On the 29th of June starting at 8am, I wiIl begin a 48 hour challenge of running 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours. I will finish my last run, which will be at 8am on the 1st of July at Kristian’s memorial bench in Old Sarum.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about Kristian. Like to many others, he was one of my closest friends - a special person, one of a kind. Last year, I was struggling myself and I hit a dark place. Kristian was the first person to react and pick me up, he always knew the right thing to say or do. Whilst he was looking after me he was going through his own struggles but never told me what battles he was facing. I wish he opened up more to me like I did to him. Kristian sadly took his life.
Everyone who knows me knows I’m an emotional person, I miss him so much and when I have them moments where I know I can’t speak to him, knowing I can’t ever again, it’s heartbreaking. I want to complete this run for him and to help raise mental awareness so that people talk about how they are feeling and that it’s ok to ask for help and that there is light at the of the tunnel.
I will speak to him every inch of the way, he won’t leave my mind. I will run the first and the last runs in Kristian’s Reme t-shirts, as if he was with me. If anyone has any ideas of routes to run in his memory please send them to me.
If your in a position please donate but if your not please share this post to help raise awareness for mental health.
Anyone that is struggling at the moment and needs a friend or chat please don’t hesitate to contact me.
