Pendle Dawn challenge · 4 July 2015

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.

My name is Dawn, I am 55 years old and I have been blind since birth.  I have recently been attending gym sessions at West Craven sports centre with a view to losing weight, improving fitness and controlling my diabetes.  I needed guidance on my diet and fitness.  At the beginning I was very unsteady and spent most of the sessions struggling with just getting on and off the equipment.  However the people who have been working with me are patient and thoughtful and as such my confidence has increased greatly.  This is how the idea to challenge myself came about.  I am some way from my fitness goals but I feel that this challenge will give me the boost I need to carry on and suceed.  I receive a lot of support from the RNIB and am very grateful to all the volunteers who give up their time to offer us access to social activites and it is for them that I would like to raise money so that others' can benefit from their services. I have a lot of support for this and my husband and family are all behind me so I feel it is now or never. Thankyou for helping me achieve my goal.
