October 2014 -

17 stone 6lbs, and unable to run a mile. This journey will be even more incredible once you have read that first statement. I am in no fit state to run a marathon, but after recieving a ballot place for the London Marathon, I am determined to run, and finish it.

My aim is to run a 5.5hr marathon (12.5min miles). This is my first marathon, in fact, my first experience of proper running. Most people would start with a 5k or 10k run, not me, LDN Marathon 2015! Lets do it.

I work for McDonald's, Pitsea, and my diet mainly consists of that. All that's changing, obviously. It's not an easy one, but its one I'm determined to complete.

Ive decided to run this Marathon and raise money for Danny Green Fund, a local charity on Canvey Island. The charity does some incredible work providing support in the form of knowledge and finances to help families that have a similar condition to Dannys.

Take a look at The Danny Green Funds page and website to truely understand how amazing the charity is.... http://www.thedannygreenfund.org.uk

I will keep you all updated on my progress!

December 2014 -

After being unable to motivate myself to start running, I decided I needed some help so I.... Hired a Personal Trainer (Jay Nash), who is working me HARD! Base fitness is getting there, the real work starts in January!

Had a few gym sessions to work on my base fitness, and I wasn't as unfit as I thought. Unfit, but not incredibly unfit. Every session I've improved my 12 minute runs, by 300m+. Banging it out :).

December 28th - My first outdoor run that we measured. Run 2 miles, 1st mile - 11mins 50sec, 2nd mile - 12mins 30sec. 2 down, 24.2 to go!

December 31st - Last session of 2014 done. Lost a staggering 2 stone in just 4 weeks. My first 3 mile run is on 3rd Jan. Real work starts after those fireworks tonight. Bring on 2015, bring on the 2015 London Marathon.

January 2015 -

3rd January - applied, and got a place at the Adiddas Silverstone Half Marathon, on 15th March. A perfect test in my training 6wks before the Marathon, 13.1miles around the best race circuit in the world. Bring it on.

5th - Completed a 3 miler, with a very short rest period at the turn around point. Got a 4 miler, then 3 miler, then 5 miler to do this week. Thats 15 miles this week! Feeling so much better in myself too!

11th - WEEK ONE, DONE! Got 3.5, 3.5, and a 4.something done this week. A slight injury on the long run, on Sunday, but a rest day, some ice, and a good foam roll, it should be fine. Disappointed not to be able to run the 5miler today, however, finished the last mile with a walk. Onwards and Upwards.

18th - WEEK TWO, DONE! That little injury wasn't so little, so a rest week this week, plenty of rolling and stretching. Managed a short 4 miler on Sunday.

25th - WEEK THREE, DONE! Back to it this week, following the plan. Changed running style slightly to increase size of steps, which makes the runs quicker, and less pressure on my calfs. Mon 3 miles, Wed 4 miles, Thurs 3 miles, Sunday - a tough, but decent 6 miles. All about racking up them miles, another strong week next week :). Almost forgot to mention, signed up for a couple of 10k runs, and the Silverstone half marathon in March!

Sorry guys, forgot to keep updating this weekly! Well, with 6 days to go, I'm in full rest mode. Cracked 18 miles about 10 days ago, tapered since.  Can't do anymore.

Bring on Sunday! Thanks for your support!
