Brighton Marathon 2017 · 9 April 2017 ·

Young Epilepsy is dedicated to standing up for children and young people with epilepsy. We’re here for them. But we need your support because epilepsy is limiting the chances of thousands of children today and may continue to do so for the rest of their lives. Together we create possible.

Story

I've always wanted to run a marathon "at some point" but with no clear objective, I started to realise that I wasn't going to wake up one day and just do it...

So a couple of years ago I set myself a goal to run my first marathon by the time I was 50 - imagine my surprise when I found out the Brighton Marathon is on my 50th birthday! What better way to spend the day than four and a half hours of pain (possibly more if the wheels fall off).

As an ex-sprinter who has been used to running short distances very fast, running 26.2 miles is a bit of a change of mindset, but I'm ready to give it a shot.

Huge thanks to James Gaydon at Young Epilepsy who has given me the opportunity to run long after standard entries had closed.

Please sponsor to help this great charity and to make my birthday celebrations a little bit easier.

Thanks, Dean
