Story
Hi, I’m Deano and I live in Sunderland, I work for Sunderland Council as a refuse collector, your local ‘bin-man’!
I’ve fundraised for various charities over the years carrying a wheelie bin on my back while I run. I’ve raised 10’s of thousands of pounds for DiabetesUK and Sunderland Royal Hospital ICU in memory of my mam and brother.
I’ve always dreamed about taking part in the London Marathon in my 50th birthday year. Sadly due to Covid that didn’t happen but I did do a virtual marathon instead running, with my wheelie bin, from Sunderland’s Stadium of Light to Newcastle’s St James Park and back again! I’m all set to take part on October 3rd and will be setting off on Friday 1st October by train from Sunderland to London!
I’ve been supporting St Oswald’s Hospice for a few years now and they are my chosen charity for this challenge. I want to do well for them so I really appreciate any money you can donate.
