Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This photo of Darcy is on my bedside table. It’s the last thing I see when I go to bed and, if I’ve managed to sleep at all, the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning. .

To many people, she looked as if she had everything, intelligence, beauty, a strong spirit and a loving family yet Darcy Grace Hollinson, my precious and beautiful youngest daughter was struggling with her mental health and despite every effort made to protect her and keep her safe, on 14 April 2021 at the age of 17, she left us in the most tragic way.

It’s been heartbreaking to discover that we are not the only family that has lost a child in this way. We are determined to raise awareness of this true pandemic which is destroying our young people and will do all we can to raise funds too.

So in May I’m running this 10k called ‘LOVE YOU’ in Canada, organised by Shoppers Drug Mart™ Run for Women. They aim to support of local women’s mental health programs in 18 cities across Canada. They've kindly allowed me to take part and run alongside my best friend who lives there. I’ll be raising funds for Papyrus UK.

PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.

Please give what you can at this time.
