Story

Hi

Thank you for visiting our Race for Life donation page.

Over the last few years, my mum and I have both lost loved ones to cancer.  By taking part in the Trentham Gardens Race for Life on 29th June 2010 we hope that the money we raise will go some way to helping find a cure for the horrible disease and provide care for those who are in need of some help.

Mum and I completed the Race for Life last year (it was my first time and mum's 4th time) - half way around the course mum asked me if I wanted to do it again in 2010.....having tired legs, a stitch and in need of a sit down... I grumbled and didn’t answer!

When we got to the home straight, mum and I ran past the finish line and straight away she asked me if I wanted to do the race again in 2010.....the answer was YES!!!!

For someone like me who is not the world’s fittest person (an understatement!) completing the Race for Life was a huge achievement.  Mum and I didn’t do it for us, but to give a little back on behalf of the people we have loved and lost.

In 2008, both mine and my mum's world fell apart when my grandma died due to stomach cancer.  My grandma, my mum's mum, was the most amazing lady.  Her husband passed away after only a few years of marriage in the 1940's leaving my grandma to raise 2 children alone.

Despite all the heartache, hard work and empty pockets, she never complained.  She would have given someone her last penny if they needed it.  Its now our turn to give something back to the cancer nurses that helped support her and our family in time of need and to help fund the fight to find a cure for the terrible disease that took my beautiful grandma and my mum's best friend away from us.

Even if you can only donate £1, it all helps towards our target.

On behalf of my mum and I thank you so much.....I can’t guarantee that I won’t moan and grumble half way around the course but I can guarantee that your donation will be well spent.

Thank you again,

Deb & Chris
