Story

Happy News.. I have a London Marathon 2019 place confirmed.

I have decided to take the challenge up as I have been given permission from the family to run this particularly event in memory of there son who sadly passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's/ Dementia in November 2017 - 5 days before his 59th birthday.

His name was Terry and he was a proper character. Terry loved acting, Dr Who, Chelsea, really enjoyed socialising, being out & about. He was a very enthusiastic, genuine & beautiful person. Gave everyone compliments on their appearance like hair & jewellery and loved his food specially chocolate (however things changed in 2014 with an upsetting downwards spiral) and behaviours started to change.

I use to take Terry to enable him to participate in local events, such as the dchft walk for wards which he enjoyed year after year. He also enjoyed watching races, at one event the Larmer 10 & half marathon back in March 2017 (on one of his good days) He stood there at the finishing line with a massive smile on his face and cheered on all the runners. At that particular event at the end he turned around to me and said "Debbie one day, we will do London" of which I said of course but in my head I had no real intention of actually following this through. However as you've gathered I have decided to commit to my word & take part.

Leonard Cheshire does amazing work for the customers who live within the organisation, hence why I've decided to raise money for them to continue supporting people like Terry and others to live life with all opportunities as any able body person can do. I would also like to bring more awareness & knowledge about the illness that took his life to soon. The end of last year was tough on everyone who knew & loved Terry. I miss Terry everyday but I'm so blessed to have worked with him for 5 years that I did xx
