The Edale Mountain Rescue Team (EMRT) is a Registered Charity providing a Search and Rescue Service for the moorland and upland areas of the Peak District National Park. It is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers and is self funding.

Story

We've spent the past 8 years with the Peak District as our playground -- spending our weekends out in remote places , safe in the knowledge that if things go wrong help is only a phone call away.

Edale mountain rescue team are dedicated community volunteers who give up their time to respond to emergencies from injured hikers to fallen climbers, and even lost souls. They do it all for free and don't get a penny of government funding. They rely on people like you to help them out with donations to buy all their outdoor gear, equipment, petrol for vehicles. Not to mention the vehicles.

We're not going to lie -- this is our weird idea of a holiday, so strictly speaking it will be fun. But it is a huge challenge of walking 275 miles (445 km) in 15 days. And that's also:

  • 43,500 feet of ascent (13,250 m)
  • 43,000 feet of descent (13,100 m).

It will be fun but it will be hard, hard work.  We hope we'll won't need the help of the mountain rescue team, but they have hundreds of call outs every year, and for the sake of all those people they continue to help, please make a donation.
