Story
I am fundraising for the gynaecology department at the RUH.
Everyone has a lockdown story, this is mine ...
I wanted to set myself a challenge to give something back to the special people at the RUH, that looked after me when I had an operation in May.
At the start of lockdown, I like many others had decided to do a bit of fitness, clear out the cupboards and clean the house from top to bottom. Until one morning, ready to do my Joe Wicks workout, I collapsed. I was suffering from abdominal pains and after a visit to the GP I was referred to the RUH.
Tests revealed a mass in my pelvis and I had to undergo an operation, which included removal of the mass and a hysterectomy. My outcomes were good, I know this is not the case for so many others.
Throughout my treatment the staff at RUH went above and beyond to make me feel safe and reassured. They were my shoulder to lean on when I was all by myself.
During my recovery I decided I wanted to give something back and set myself a personal challenge. As they are challenged everyday, jumping out of a plane seemed like a good idea.
My motivation comes from all the incredible people I have encountered during a crazy few months in my life.
Thank you for all your support. This is a self funded skydive, so please give generously, all your kind donations will go directly to help the Gynaecology department.
