Himeji Castle Marathon · 26 February 2023

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

"What idiot would string two of those together?!!"

I've said that every time I've completed a half marathon.

Turns out I'm one of those idiots!

I'm going to be running a marathon, on February 26th 2023 in Himeji, Japan. I'm excited, I'm training hard already, and yes, I'm out there in the rain and THAT cold weather.

Running a marathon has been a bucket list item of mine for many years and I've realised that waiting more years won't make it any easier! I might only ever do one marathon and I want it to count towards something worthwhile, something bigger - more than just me running.

I've recently had the privilege to start working on a brilliant project that supports people living with dementia and their families. I've met some incredible people. Resilient, caring and full of heart. But they need support, because dementia is devastating. By running 26.2 miles I get to contribute in a way that will provide more of that vital support and hope for people living with dementia.

Please support my marathon fundraising for Dementia UK. Every pound will make a difference and I'll run hard for you.
