Story

I'm running in the Manchester Marathon on April 2nd. The place was given to me by a friend at Southbank Running Club, which I have the privilege of leading.

After such a big effort for Prostate Cancer in my Nottm2Derby run, my plan was to run this race without seeking further support from all those that have kindly backed me with donations along the way. That said, the passing of a friend of myself and the running club, Jamie Gibson has made me feel I'd like to do something to mark the tragic events. Every member of the group is so important, the spirit and fulfilment it's gives people randomly thrown together is amazing, his loss is devastating.

Jamie was a top, top lad and did so much for charity. He was so popular and would do anything for anyone! Unfortunately, he suffered in silence from something that's really does affect us all at some point in our lives. The details of why he's no longer with us are now out in the open. I didn't know Jamie long but just looking at his wall, shows how much he was trying, he pushed what I'm trying to achieve through the running club so much. My biggest motivation to do such a thing is to make sure the group is open to everyone, particularly those who feel isolated and wouldn't normally attend a group, the running is just a good reason to meet. This really is so important, even more so now!

All I ask is that people donate just £1. No more, no less! My purpose for this is to see how many people actually care enough about the issues highlighted to make such a small donations. For example if 48 people donate the total will be £48! It will show everyone the number of people that got involved. The funds will go to 'Mind'. I also plan to run in a Forest shirt with Jamie 34 on the back. It would be an absolute privilege.

I have been in touch with one of Jamie's closest friends who is very grateful of the support. Please get behind this... you never really know who will need our help next.

Anyone can donate by cash, online and by text. Please do keep donations to £1 for the experiment to work. With enough support we will make a difference. If anyone would like to give more, I can point you to other fundraising initiatives.
