Hi, I'm Blue, and I began running to help cope with mental illness.

The day I decided to do a marathon was the day I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital a year ago; It gave me a future goal to focus on, when all I could think about was ending my own life.

There is still so much stigma surrounding mental illness, we're told we're 'weak' 'lazy': We're not. We are some of the strongest people ever: We have to be. I want to show this strength to myself and the world by running the London Marathon on the 23rd April 2017.

But ultimately I'm not doing this for show: things need to change.  Mental illness devastates so many lives, with 1 in 4 of us experiencing troubles this year, there needs to be better support, services, and understanding. This is why I'm teaming up with Mind - the mental health charity, who's mission is to care for people experiencing mental health difficulties, and to promote a more understanding and inclusive society. Their work has touched many lives, including mine. So I want to raise a 'crazy' amount to aid them in their mission ~5,000 pounds~ and I can only do it with your help! :D

My story

I'm an artist who deals with her demons through drawing, and I've written openly online about my experiences with mental illness. I never expected anyone would listen, but many thousands have poured their love and support into me, and so many have been brave enough to share their stories with me in turn.

So here I am opening myself up again, asking for help to reach this huge target, so we can make a difference, together.

I'm going to have to dig deep to run 26.2 miles, so I hope you can dig deep too. ~I can promise if you're having a bad day or need a boost, that giving to a wonderful charity will help you feel great! :D
