Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to take on the EPT1000 challenge to walk/run 1000km within 12 months. I'm doing this to raise awareness about ectopic pregnancy something that effects 1 in 80 pregnancies   and any donations will go to The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. In September 16 I found out I was pregnant and I was over the moon and excited for my families future. On October 17th I stood up of the sofa and had an awful stabbing pain in the lower left side of my tummy after trying to dull the pain for hours I rang 111. I was rushed to A&E but due to it being so late at night a scan couldn't be done. Going back the next day was terrifying but I was hopefully that everything would be ok, the scan showed no pregnancy but I was told for a 6 week pregnancy this could be completely normal. At my next appointment (2 days later) they still couldn't find the pregnancy and I was told I would not be getting a baby from this and to hope it was a miscarriage and not ectopic. I was due to go back on the Monday (4 days later) but I got up Sunday in unbearable pain I was rushed to A&E and had to stay in over night as they suspected the pregnancy was ectopic. The next morning I went for a scan and they found my baby, in my left Fallopian tube. I was devastated I held so much hope that everything was going to be fine and I felt like my whole world had come crashing down. I had to go for surgery on a priority, I went that afternoon to have my tube removed along with my baby. It made me realise how few people know about ectopic pregnancies and what it can do to a family. I am still battling with my loss and it's something I think about every single day but I want everyone to know there is somewhere to turn to.

I found the charity a few weeks after my operation and they helped me to realise, not crying was completely normal and they helped me to get through it. You go through an array of emotions from guilt to anger but I always had someone on the end of the phone to listen to me. This charity have supported me through every emotion and from ladies who have been in my position. The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust receive no govermemnt funding and rely solely on donations, just  £5 can ensure a lady is able to receive ongoing support.

Thank you for reading my story and helping me raise awareness.
