Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am going to do this 100km march from London to Henley to support the charity, which helped me personally (as well as thousands of other cancer patients over the past 50 years).

I was a cancer patient at Guy's Hospital in London trying to come to terms with a very unexpected tongue cancer, which I was diagnosed with in June 2015. Dimbleby Cancer Care came to my ward one morning after my first operation and offered their support to make my treatment more bearable: a series of reflexology and aromatherapy sessions and then presented me with a nice pillow which I treasure a lot.

My treatment went well and I am now trying to get back to my normal life and self, to forget about my illness, leave it in the past. I shall of course always have my scars and a shortened tongue reminding me of my experience, I hope to change my life too to get most of it as I have clearly seen how easily and unexpectedly it can be interrupted... What I do not want to ever forget is the kindness and support I received whilst in hospital from the Guy's Hospital and Dimbleby Cancer Care staff.

After about a year since my diagnosis I am keen to give back to their wonderful team and through them to hopefully all those, who cared for me at Guy's Hospital in London. On a more personal level, I want to challenge myself and prove that I am back to my former enduring self several months since my treatment (two operations and a six-weeks course of radiotherapy) finished.

As per event description I am going to start in Putney in London at around 7am on Saturday and then walk to Henley-on-Thames throughout day and night.

Thank you for your support!
