Story
My late sister, Alison Elliott (formerly Davies) aged 47, passed away on New Year’s Eve 2009, one week after being diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Alison was a loving friend, sister, daughter, mother and wife, as well as being a very talented make-up designer, winning a BAFTA for Cranford, with the film Nanny McPhee dedicated in her name. She left behind 1-year old twins to her husband, Simon.
I wanted to try and do something epic to raise money towards funding leukemia & lymphoma research, but wasn't able to think of anything "Grand" enough. So what is better than two novice cyclists crossing the length of the Pyrenees from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean within 6 days - "Le Grand Challenge Pyrenees". The challenge represents a huge one in more ways than one, that will require at least 9 months of training up to 70 miles per day, culminating in climbing some of the largest peaks in the World, including many of the infamous climbs seen in the Tour de France.
Please help us raise as much money as possible to this brilliant cause. Some 30,000 people a year are diagnosed in the UK with one of these group of 100 or so blood cancers. Event takes place September 6-11th 2015.
