Story

A very big thank you to everyone who made a sponsorship donation.

Race report:

Ok, so the number goes on the front apparently.  It was the warmest weather I had run in – and sooo many other runners.

Although I didn’t manage to beat Mario and Luigi (clearly I should have been dressed as The Flash), I did finish in a very respectable 54 mins 36 sec, fractionally ahead of my target time, coming 421 out of 1,077.  I didn’t end up in the canal or accumulate any extraneous, lost children so all-in-all a success.

This all sounds very active and healthy.  For those concerned I am turning into a fitness freak, rest assured; on completion I immediately checked myself into the nearest American Diner for a full-on (veggie) burger to ensure the proper balance resumed.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been out running in all weathers, through flooded woodlands (and getting lost), dodged being hit by golf balls, chased by dogs in the park, upset small children on scooters (who should really look where they're going) and a goose.   Now.... finally, my training is complete.  I am ready to slap a number on my back (or does it go on the front?), ignore the chafing and pretend I know what I'm doing. So far, so good - but now I need your help.

This is my first entry into any sort of distance running event (maybe you guessed!)

Although I'm doing this for fun, there is a serious side - to raise money for Watford Mencap and local charities supported through Watford Round Table.

Your donation will help Mencap support and enable people with learning disabilities enjoy choice and control over their own lives, to enable them to work towards fulfilling their life ambitions and achieve their potential and make the most of life.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
