Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.On the 8th January 2016 one of the co founders of the ride Mark Moore's family's world was turned upside down. His Son Dom had been feeling unwell for a while and when it didn't pass on its own, he made an appointment to see his G.P. Thinking it would be a routine appointment and he would leave with some antibiotics and that would be the end of it...how wrong he was. He was rushed straight into hospital where he was diagnosed with an extremely rare blood condition known as Aplastic Anaemia. This condition affects 1-500,000 people. Put simply, his body does not produce enough new blood cells and this leaves him at risk of serious infections and uncontrolled bleeding. After three and a half months in and out of hospital he like so many others is know preparing for a Bone Marrow Transplant. He has found being in hospital very difficult to say the least, Most of his time there been spent in 'isolation' for fear of him contracting further infection. For those that know Dom will appreciate just how hard he found being kept in the same room for weeks at a time. It has been amazing to witness and benefit from the fantastic support that is provided by the Teenage Cancer Trust. The ward (J94 at St James's) where he has been receiving his treatment is staffed by an incredible team of specialist nurses, and their work is complimented by the tireless dedication of the TCT team. Their role is to create a safe, welcoming and warm space which distracts Dom and teenagers like him from the reasons they are there. This support is only made possible through the hard work and dedication of the Teenage Cancer Trust and in Dom's words " it makes all the difference for everyone who finds themselves there" We understand that times are hard for people at this moment in time and ask only if you can you to support this cause and help to raise some money so that the TCT and Ward94 can continue providing the fantastic care and support that they do. If you can't support through financial means we understand and appreciate that and ask then if you can to send the guys doing this and Dom a message of encouragement through our Facebook Page which is TCT Coast & Castles. Dom, his family and all involved would like to thank you in advance for any support you can give. Although we cannot cure this overnight we can raise money provide support to make it that little bit easier for all to deal with. As a small gesture to say thank you, if you would like to see a loved ones name to appear on one of the riders T-Shirts then please ensure when donating you provide their name. For Example In loving memory of....................

Joshua Moore has also decided to join the fundraising bike ride.
All monies raised will be restricted to Teenage Cancer Trust ward 94 at St James's hospital.
As part of the Coast and Castles Cycle Challenge we are also riding in
memory of a very special young man, Kyle Flynn who was treated on the
same ward with Dom.
Kyle, sadly passed away on the 21st March
2016 after a 7 month battle with leukaemia at the age of 19. Although
Kyles illness wasn't terminal, he unexpectedly passed away of organ
failure due to a combination of the cancerous cells and his treatment
taking its toll on his body. Kyle was extremely positive, and always
spoke of all the money he would raise to help others once he was better.
The Teenage Cancer Trust provided Kyle with emotional and
physical support, and also helped to fund the purchase of new technology
in the hope of finding a cure for cancer.
We are privileged
that Kyle’s dad Steve is also taking part in the cycle challenge and
riding in memory of Kyle and we thank each and every one of you for the
support you are showing both the Moore and Flynn families
