Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Needless to say, I was shocked. Those of you who know me well know that I take care of myself and do most of the right things my body needs to be healthy and strong. Cancer doesn't have a 'type'. I'm a normal person living a normal life and ignorantly I thought I would never be a cancer patient. I didn't realise or appreciate just how many people are affected by this destructive illness. When I attended Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to receive treatment my perspective changed! Macmillan nurses, along with the staff in places like Clatterbridge Cancer Centre are real heroes, people that make a difference. I met people there who have touched my life and will be forever in my thoughts, both staff and patients.
I've always wanted to help raise money for people who make a difference. When my friend, Tot, got in touch with me a couple of weeks after I was diagnosed and mentioned the longest day golf challenge I knew my time to raising money had arrived. When I complete the challenge along with 3 of my closest friends it will be a huge honour and proud moment for us all knowing that we've helped raise money for an excellent cause which makes a real difference to people's lives.
I personally would be extremely grateful for any donations/sponsorship made towards Macmillan Support and I would be delighted to see you all up at Old Colwyn Golf Club on Friday 23rd June.
Thank you so much
Donny
