Hi – I’m Drew. For those of you who know me, you’ll be pleased to hear I’m finally doing this and no doubt be glad to see the back of me. For those of you who don’t (and I hope there’s a few of you…) I’m a 24 year old man who is finally not preventing himself from taking on his dreams.

 

These dreams mainly compromise of cycling – somewhere – for an indefinite period of time. For the purpose of this adventure that has been sculpted into taking to Europe - wild camping and hostelling my way around the continent whilst raising money for charity.

 

Catching the ferry to Amsterdam in April, I intend to cycle through Scandinavia, down Eastern and into Southern Europe, to finally head west and finish in the city of Lisbon.

 

You can’t decide to do something like this without raising money for charity, and I have decided to support ‘Mind’. The reasons for this are fourfold:

I never feel more like myself than on my bicycle – If I’ve had a rough time, taking to the road on two wheels never fails to re-energise me (more so than a cup of tea!

 

I lost someone who suffered from complex PTSD.

 

Since leaving university I struggled mentally with the transition from student life to ‘reality’ – and I believe I am not alone in this.

 

I fell into putting fear and the 9 – 5 life ahead of doing what I wanted. Work should never get the best of you. I’d like to inspire anyone who is letting something unimportant shape their lives to take action and be happy.
