Story
A few years back a group of us got to thinking about Absent Friends and decided to do some remembering by taking a drive along the highways and byways where those fondly thought of once accompanied us.
It soon became clear that many enthusiastic drivers and riders were of the same mind and so we put together an informal plan to get together, with appropriate vehicles, to take a run out where once we had the company of those now no longer with us.
We hope to awaken and enjoy those treasured memories.
Our scheme here at Fennel is to meet for breakfast and then, in company, or singly set off on a run down memory lane. Other friends may get together, in the same way, at other locations and have their runs. Since the pandemic struck our annual run out has been in abeyance, but with the return to more normal times we can get out again and so, on 12th June this summer, we will meet at Fennel for 09:00 and, in our tradition of the No Plan Plan, after admiring the machinery and enjoying breakfast and a beverage, set out on a nostalgic route once travelled with that Absent Friend.
Many of us wish to make a charitable contribution after the run in memory of those dear to us. The Just Giving page is up and running, but of course there will be your individual and appropriate charity support choices. There will be other 'get togethers' and runs at other locations organised by groups of friends - the common thread being our memories of times gone by and our support for a charity
