The Dukes Hadrian's Wall Challenge

Hadrian's Wall Challenge · 26 May 2017
Ingredients:
Mix it all together and what are you left with…?
The Cause: Matt 'Hambo' Hampson is a former Leicester Tigers and England U21 rugby player who, following an accident during scrummaging practice in 2005, became a C4/5 tetraplegic. Since then, he has dedicated his life to helping those who have suffered from life-changing injuries. The foundation are currently raising funds to help them build their 'Get Busy Living! Rehab Centre'; a £1m rehabilitation facility helping those who have suffered life altering and catastrophic sporting injuries.
The Challenge: A group of London Cornish RFC’s “Dukes” have decided to undertake the 84 mile long ‘Hadrian’s Wall Path’, walking from one side of the country to the other, to raise funds for the Matt Hampson Foundation. It's generally recommended that experienced walkers take at least 5 days to complete this distance, se we've decided to do it in just 3! All we have to do is cover more than a marathon distance every day across the Pennines.... ouch!
Kick-Off: We will be travelling up to Newcastle on the 26th May so we can start at bright-and-early o'clock on Saturday 27th May. It's a Bank Holiday so can pretty much guarantee us 3 days of glorious sunshine.
The Ask: As many of her Majesty's finest pounds sterling as you can spare!!!!! Simples. We are paying for all of the costs ourselves so every penny will go directly to the charity to help them continue their fantastic work.
The Teamsheet:
Special mentions:
David Overton and father Allan who has travelled all of the way from Oz to join in, albeit at a slightly slower pace (the son is holding the father back)
Martin Bevan running support
Andy Goode - through the wonderful world of social media we managed to collar former England rugby superstar(?!) Andy Goode into helping us promote our endeavour, he’s even promised to come out of retirement for a second time for one game with the LCRFC Dukes when we hit our sponsorship target.
Thank you for all of your support and wish us luck!
