Prostate Scotland aims to inform, support, campaign and advance on prostate disease in Scotland. We raise awareness and provide information about prostate cancer and disease and its treatments. We also promote research and treatment developments on prostate issues across Scotland.

Story

Those of you who know me well will be aware that prostate cancer has affected my family for the best part of 10 years now.  1 in 2 men will experience some sort of prostate disease in their lifetime and 1 in 11 men are likely to develop prostate cancer. Unfortunately, the chances of the developing the disease can increase to as much as 50% for the direct male relatives of the person who's already been diagnosed.

Encouragingly, the survival rates have significantly improved in recent years and this is down to better education and information provided by charities and organisations, such as Prostate Scotland.  More men are now more aware of what to look out for and how to seek help, but this number can always be higher. The earlier any problems are found, the better.

I would like to raise the awareness of prostate cancer. So, I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in May 2017 and the Loch Ness Marathon (yes, you read it right) in September 2017, for charity. I may add in another run at a later date, but these will do for now.

You can help me raise awareness by donating anything you can to this worthwhile charity, who are dedicated to assisting men in Scotland by giving information, improving education and positively influencing policy change on prostate cancer research and treatment(s) in Scotland.
