Story

Thanks for supporting my fundraiser.

Macmillan gave me tremendous support a few years ago. Their staff gave me great advice, moral support and some financial help.

I would like to help give something back to MacMillan; for the people who need them now and in the future.

Please note that I have requested that funds raised on this page will go directly to MacMillan in Northern Ireland.

MacMillan use the JustGiving platform which is simple, fast and secure.

Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. Plus they can benefit from gift aid.

On the night of the charity event (29 Jan 8pm @ Ballinascreen GAC) there will be 2 buckets there; one for MacMillan and another to raise a few £ for Charis also; a local cancer charity that helped me greatly post treatment and surgeries.

Competition

Any donation is welcome and if you add a guess of how many frees we will score out of 50 to your name when you donate; we will enter you into a competition to win £200 (sponsored by Ballinascreen GAC).

Simply add your guess beside your name or on private message Eg Eamonn Burns 25

Rules - All free kicks will be at least 25m and outside the central ‘D’ at Ballinascreen GAC and all the participants   will have 1 or 2 kicks each ie Total amount of kicks = 50

The players will be mostly Derry 1993 team-mates of mine and Down 1991-94 opponents plus a few other ex team-mates who have been through the cancer journey and benefitted from Macmillan also.

Anthony Tohill, Henry Downey, Danny Quinn, Damian Barton, Declan Bateson, Gary Coleman, Tony Scullion, Kieran McKeever, Fergal P. McCusker, Brian McCormick, Dermot O’Neill, Enda Gormley, Damian McCusker, Karl Diamond, Hugh M Tohill, Colm Rafferty and Collie McGurk are the confirmed Derry 1993 All-Ireland Winners who will be taking a kick to raise funds for MACMILLAN and CHARIS. Some of the other lads who will be present on the night:- Damian Cassidy, Brian McGilligan; Seamus Downey, Richard Ferris and Dermot McNicholl.

From the Down All-Ireland winning teams of 1991-94:- Mickey Linden; DJ Kane; Ross Carr; Greg Blaney; John Kelly; Gregory McCartan; Mark McCartan; Brendan McKernan; Eamon Connolly; Brian Burns & Paul Higgins.

These former team-mates of mine are the real stars and have agreed to kick for charity. Each have their own story to tell about MACMILLAN and CHARIS:-

Ronan Rocks (Loup and Bellaghy and team mate with Derry 1994-2002)

Sean D. O’Neill (team-mate with Ballinascreen)

Peter O’Neill (Moneymore GAC and team-mate with Draperstown Celtic FC)

Seamie McKenna (team-mate with Ballinascreen)

Roddy Skelly (Ballerin GAC and team-mate with St.Patrick’s Maghera and Derry Minors. Roddy was also my surgeon at Causeway Hospital; say no more!)

You are all very welcome lads; hope you enjoy the evening!!

If you can’t attend the event in person (and everybody is welcome), we hope to screen the 50 kicks live on my Facebook page at approximately 8pm on Saturday January 29th. You can still donate after this time but obviously will be too late for the competition.

I am happy if you keep the amount of your donation anonymous.

Needless to say, I will not be accepting any cards or vouchers for my 50th; please donate a small amount to MacMillan instead if you can. A fiver is more than enough in January!

Thanks very much.
