In memory of Damian Molloy

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Damian died at 58 due to an Alcohol related illness. A couple of years before his death he suffered from dementia like symptoms. During this time the Alzheimer's Society provided support and care for him. I will be running the Gawthorpe World Coal Carrying Championships on Easter Monday in his memory. I am also running to draw attention to mental health issues such as depression and alcoholism in men. The race involves carrying a hundredweight (50 kg) of coal just under a mile. I'll be running in the Veterans race (over 40). No plans of breaking any records. Will be glad to finish. My wife, Andrea bought me two bags of coal for my birthday.......so no excuses.
