Yemen Crisis Appeal
Campaign by The British Red Cross Society (RCN 220949 (England & Wales), SC037738, 0752, 430)
Yemen is the world’s single largest humanitarian crisis. Extreme hunger, disease and conflict are killing or injuring an estimated 75 people every day.

Story

I've decided to embrace my (sort of) millennial identity and give up alcohol for 2019!

A recent set of blood tests revealed that I have an unusually high amount of cholesterol junking up my plasma. My GP has said that I have a choice between getting into cracking shape or being put on statins for the rest of my life. So I have decided to cut down on my pork life and get some exercise, and by pork I in fact really mean alcohol.

I thought I might as well try to raise a little money for a good cause in the process. Support for the effort to relieve the famine in Yemen seems an obvious choice. The statistics below make for grim reading so any donation you are able to make will be money very well spent.

- 130 children die of hunger and disease in Yemen each day.

- 17 million people are 'food insecure' while a staggering 7 million do not know where their next meal is coming from.

- 1.2 million suspected or confirmed cases of cholera since April 2017.

- 18.8 million people in need of humanitarian aid or support.
