Story

Hi, I'm Edward and I'd like to go to Uganda in August of 2015 to build a playground.

Here in the UK the government invests £millions each year into playgrounds, play opportunities and all-important space for chlidren to explore, create, socialise and develop. But in Uganda, a country where 50% of the population are under 15, there is no government funding for childhood development.

As a fixed asset in the community, a playground structurally
symbolises, promotes and reinforces the importance of childhood. A
playground offers children the space to make sense of any problems
they might be facing, through role play and imaginative games, thus
learning vital problem solving skills for the future.

Unstructured play environments encourage children to think for
themselves, gaining vital problem solving skills, which is often missing in
East African classroom teaching due to the rote teaching format, adopted
due to lack of resources, knowledge and inspiration from teachers.

In order to achieve my goal of playground building I need your help to raise £2300, I know it sounds like a lot but if a lot of people just donate a little bit then we can help those children that aren't as lucky as we are.

Thank you for taking the time to read my page.
