Story
No one can prepare you as a parent for when such a diagnosis is made. Because arthritis in children is so rare, many parents feel a degree of isolation and loneliness when trying to deal with the condition, its effects and treatments.
SNAC is a charitable organisation which has been set up by parents to support and help families of children affected by arthritis. Their work is supported by the Scottish Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Clinical Network, Doctors and Allied Health Professionals throughout Scotland working with children with arthritis.
Jacob was diagnosed with Juvinile Idiopatic Arthritis (JIA) in October last year. He has since undergone 2 operations and had a weeks stay at the Royal Sick Kids where he had intense physio in an attempt to straight his badly affected knee.
6 weeks ago we discovered Jacobs arthritis had moved into his other knee joint which meant a further op and ongoing intense physio and hydrotherapy sessions at The BGH.
We are pleased to say Jacob is currently in remission but really want to give something back to the charity that have helped us so much.
Please support this charity by donating or indeed taking part in our Swimathon on the 6th July at Eyemouth Swimming Pool from 2pm.
We are going to make a day of it and have a raffle, prizes, food and drinkies afterwards so bring your friends and families!
And dig deep if you can ;)
Thank you xx
