Last yeat I completed a work placement with the Women's Support Project in Glasgow, the WSP works to raise awareness of the extent, causes and effect of male violence against women, and for improved services for those affected by violence. They address a broad range of issues and prioritise the following areas: support for women whose children have been sexually abused or exploited, child sexual abuse and incest and commercial sexual exploitation. The project has been a key driver at a strategic level influencing government policy to reduce and support survivors of sexual violence and has also been involved in numerous research and training projects over the years.

As I'm sure people are aware during the recession frontline support services are some of the hardest being hit. After 25 years of funding the Women's Support Project has had a 100% funding cut from Glasgow City Council so they are trying to raise £100,000 to keep the project running to continue the vitally important work that they do in supporting women and children that experience sexual violence in all its forms.

I am going to get my tree trunks/ sausage legs/ cumberlands/ pork and leeks/ fat knees out- whatever you want to call them (see above in the pictures!!)- and run the Glasgow women's 10k. I've left things really late (as ususal); it is next week and I don't yet have any sponsors!!! Ok se here's where you come in......I am asking people to sponsor me anything from a pound upwards to try and help this wicked project to keep running (pardon the pun).
