Together with my good friends Rachael and Hannah, I will be hiking Ben Nevis on July 20 in memory of my older brother, Erlend. This date marks 10 years since he decided to end his own life and I am hoping the challenge will help to turn a difficult day into something more positive, as well as giving me a chance to remember some of my fondest memories of my brother - Erlend loved hiking and we used to go hiking together every summer holiday as children. 

I want to raise the money for Survivors of Bereavement By Suicide (SOBS) because I've seen first-hand the wonderful work they do to support all those bereaved by suicide. The opportunity to meet others who are bereaved through their support groups, share stories of our loved ones and support each other through what is a very unique grieving process is invaluable. NICE estimates that each suicide affects between six and 60 people but there is a lack of dedicated support services in many parts of the UK. My hope is that the money raised will go some way towards helping SOBS set up support groups in more areas.
