Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You'll all be glad to hear that although the wimp Gordon Ramsey didn't finish - I did and in 4 hours 11 minutes and 34 seconds!

Thank you all so much for all your good luck messages on my donation page and all the texts and e-mails I got - it really helped keep me going as the day got hotter! I have already managed to raise over £1,000 including gift aid and thank you so much to all those that have already donated - you are amazing! LV= are also going to match another £500 taking my total to £1,500!!

The day arrived and after 3 months of training I felt as ready as I would ever be. I ran with a friend, Nick, and we were constantly overtaking people which was great for confidence but it was a constant struggle and it meant that we didn't get to run at our own pace for the majority of the time.

It really helped having someone to run with and keep my spirits up, the crowds were also amazing and were all the way round the route handing out support, sweets and drinks!! I managed to see our "support crew" which consisted of my sister Vic, her husband Gaz and my brothers girlfriend Lisa at two points and was a real boost to hear them cheering.

Nick was far better at weaving through the crowds than me so he went on ahead at mile 20 as I started to tire although in the end we only finished 30 seconds apart! At mile 22 my right knee started giving me some grief but I managed to keep the pace going and even managed to pick the pace up slightly towards the end as the crowds grew.

The finish line was a very welcome sight and getting my medal an almost surreal experience but I had a fantastic day and it was definitely a privilege to be part of the London Marathon.

I wanted to raise money for a local charity and in particular one for children and the Caring 4 Kids campaign will make such a difference to children and their families living in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. For more information please visit their website http://www.starsappeal.org/
