Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my page. In April I will be running the London Marathon!
As you may already know, our son Rafes’ arrival into the world was fairly dramatic and not without close calls for both him and I.
The most important part for Rafe, my husband Hans and I, was that we all eventually came through safe and healthy. This isn’t always the case for others and made me realise how important it is to have a support network and organisation around you. That’s why I am honoured to be running for the most amazing charity, Tommy’s. Together, for every baby - Charity for Babies | Tommy's (tommys.org)
After our experience, I wanted to give back for all the amazing support and care we received and to those that essentially saved my life.
I am also using this as a tool to mentally process what we went through and to embrace the health and physicality I so nearly lost.
By devoting myself to a 16 week training programme, whilst juggling the early stages of parenthood, I am using the strength that others showed me to keep going, one jog at a time.
I am running for all the parents, families and babies that weren’t fortunate enough to have the same positive outcome as we did and I am dedicating my marathon run to Bethany Broad, my sister, who my parents sadly lost during child birth. I know that if Tommy’s Charity was around then, they would have received amazing support through the unfathomable grief.
Any donations that you have to aid this incredible charity will forever be appreciated by so many.
Please check out the Tommy’s website to find out more about the fantastic work they do, not only during the grieving process but also the prevention of baby loss.
By donating you will help to fund vital research into miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth, so they can keep saving babies’ lives.
Thank you for backing me and Tommy's. Every one of you is helping me get to that finish line!
