Dental Volunteer Programme · 21 June 2020

There is a desperate need to tackle oral disease, infection and chronic pain throughout the developing world - to enable people to work, attend school and care for families. We teach skills that mean local people are able to function free from pain, and avoid preventable infections and diseases.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some of my friends will remember that I travelled to Tanzania in 2018 to take part in Bridge2Aid's dental volunteer programme. This involved training clinical officers in rural communities to provide emergency dental treatment to relieve pain and sepsis. For many of these rural communities, attending the dentist is not possible due to the distance to travel and the cost. By training the local health workers to provide basic emergency care, these people can then access the treatment that they urgently need.

This is my "swan song" before I retire at the end of July after 36 years in dental practice. I look forward to sharing some of these skills that I have built up over the years to help other people to help their communities.
