The Stroke Association - Thames Bridges Bike Ride · 23 May 2010 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

As you probably know Liz's Dad had a massive stroke in January 2007 so we know all too well what an impact strokes can have on victims and their family.

In 2009 we decided we would like to do two things 1) get fitter and 2) raise some money for what we think is a great cause.  So we signed up for the Thames Bridges Cycle Ride for the Stroke Association.  The ride was at the end of May last year and we did a total of 41 miles including the bit to get there and back.  With the help of friends and family we were delighted to raise just over £1000 .

Now, in 2010, we are still chasing the fitness ideal and have decided to give the race another go.  This year the race is on May 23rd and we have been training since February.  We think, fingers crossed, we should manage the distance again. We wondered if you would be willing to sponsor us again and raise more money for this important cause.

If you feel you can, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

If you would like, please make a donation through this site!  Thanks.
