Elizabeth Simzer is raising money for Alzheimer Scotland

Edinburgh Marathon 2026 · 24 May 2026 ·

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Welcome to my Just Giving fundraising page! I am running the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon for Alzheimer Scotland to raise as much money as possible for this incredible charity.

I’m raising money for Alzheimer Scotland because their work is deeply connected to both my research and the people it impacts. I am a PhD student studying Alzheimer’s disease, and much of my work relies on precious brain tissue generously donated through the Alzheimer Scotland Brain and Tissue Bank. This resource is essential to advancing research, and I’m incredibly grateful to the families and donors who make it possible.

Our lab also regularly partners with Alzheimer Scotland—hosting events, welcoming their lived-experience workers into the lab, and having meaningful conversations that remind us why our research matters. Meeting people who are living with dementia, or caring for someone who is, brings a human perspective that motivates and inspires my work.

I want to give something back to an organisation that supports individuals and families across Scotland, and that plays a vital role in enabling research like mine. Any donation, no matter the size, helps Alzheimer Scotland continue providing care, community, and hope.

Thank you so much for your support.
