Stop Press 21st March:  Good news!  I was able to swim 4.3 miles myself, and the balance has been swum by my two sisters-in-law, Giovanna and Helen.  Job done.

I am undertaking the Silver challenge to swim 12 miles between 21st January and the end of March 2014 which is part of the Chairman of Craven District Council's sponsored swim 2014.

The Accident and Emergency unit at Airedale Hospital does a great job of saving lives which included mine on 1st November 2013. I was admitted 4 days before a scheduled operation to remove a tumour on my brain as I suddenly became critically ill.  The staff at Airedale, with the help of the surgeon from LGI, controlled the swelling on my brain, stabilised my condition and then blue-lighted me to Leeds for an emergency operation.

The sponsorship I raise goes towards the A&E appeal to provide distraction walls for children visiting A&E and to update equipment in the unit.
