Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was already running this half marathon with a few friends for fun but after the recent disaster in Nepal struck I wanted to raise money to help.
The earthquake which struck Nepal and its capital Kathmandu on Saturday 25th April is thought to have affected over 8 million people and already 5,000 people are confirmed to be dead. 10, 000 more are believed to be injured and these numbers are only going to continue to rise. Most rural areas cannot be reached leaving thousands of people without any aid; this is only going to become more and more challenging with the monsoon season arriving.
Anyway, you've all seen these facts and figures in the news and I'm sure you're all aware of how much help the people in Nepal need. I just want to do my bit to try and make even just a small difference to the people affected.
As well as providing much-needed food and shelter to those affected British Red Cross volunteers are helping with the search for survivors. The organisation has also set up a blood bank in Kathmandu to help injured people that have been rescued.
I'd be so grateful for any donations, even a small amount of money will be able to do so much to help the people of Nepal after such a horrible disaster.
Thank you so much!
