Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ella is doing this to challenge herself but for a good cause. Ella hates running but hates how humans mistreat animals for their own gains. So, throughout the summer holidays, she has decided that she wanted to do something she not only dislikes, but finds really hard, in the hope people will donate to an amazing charity. Four Paws, helps all types of animals in the hope to end animal suffering throughout the world.
Ella has completed her first week of running & currently is running 2k in just over 15 minutes. She has found this new determination to not give up & has even started to run up the hills she’d once moan about walking. She is so grateful people have sponsored her & is shocked at the money she has raised so far.
Week 2 brought its own challenges with one of the three runs being not quite as far as we initially thought. Ella was trouper and ran two miles straight on her final run of the week, so she knew in her own head she’d definitely covered the distance and more. It was a hard run for her & there were tears, but she managed it, an achievement in itself, she’d never have done that before. As a family we are so proud of her. This week will bring her to the half way mark....
Ella completed week 3 today, finally at the halfway mark. By her own admission running is physically getting easier. The hardest run this week was the one she completed on her Daddy‘s birthday beach and dune run, where she wore inappropriate clothing on a very sunny day - that lesson has been learnt!!
Week 4, Ella started the week by getting her first run injury. She fell over in the first five minutes of her first run and had a gravel rash up the whole of her lower leg & palms. Like a trooper she cried & ran on regardless, seems the pain from that made the run easier. This was her best run!! She’s still far from enjoying running but is starting to appreciate how exercise changes your mindset. Roll on week 5.
The end of week 5, what a week. Running with Isla in the torrential rain whilst camping on the River Dart, twice, the final run of the week done with Millie. It was nice to have a friend to run with instead of with just the parents, but the rain made it so miserable for all involved. Both girls fell over on one of the runs as it was so wet & muddy. Into the final week...
And she’s done it!! 6k for 6 weeks!! Despite never enjoying her runs or finding them easy she continued on. The quickest she ran 2k was in her final week at 13.02 minutes. That’s a 2 minute improvement over the six weeks. As a family we are super proud of her & her achievement!! She is really proud of herself & amazed at how generous people have been. Thank you all!!
