The Objects of CIVA are “to advance any purpose which is recognised as being exclusively charitable under the laws of every part of the United Kingdom”. CIVA specialises in taking good ideas and turning them into successful and sustainable programmes. The main thrust of our work at the present time is in the following areas: • The promotion of social entrepreneurship and support of social entrepreneurs. • Encouraging the participation of young people in issues that affect them as young people and in wider society. • Enabling poor communities to address issues and problems in their lives. • Addressing the needs of families and their health and wellbeing, especially young families and early years children, • Addressing the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change. • The advancement of mathematics. • Experimenting with and investigating new forms of sustainable finance in support of these objectives.

Story

In September I ran bootcamps as always, but instead of taking payment I asked everyone to bring in sanitary products. As I have shared before the request went extremely well with so many of you donating products. But I didn't want to stop there.

I wondered what I could achieve if I created a way in which not only raised awareness but collected donations in the masses. I did my research, looked at the staggering statistics and found myself staring at such a big topic in the face.

I have been in contact and I am working alongside an amazing charity called Bloody good period. They are based in London and work to eliminate period poverty within the UK. By collecting donations they give products to refugees, asylum seekers and those who can't afford them.

The inability to buy adequate sanitary products is effecting women and girls in the hundreds. It seems implausible that this could and can happen in our country. But it's real, and it's happening. Of course the problem centres around Britian's poorest, but is in no way helped by the silence around the topic of periods.

In running up to and during May 2020 I will be campaigning to collect as much sanitary products as possible to donate to this amazing charity.Donations can be made with physical items such as tampons, period pads and pantyliners or you can donate with money here on our just giving page!

But why donate? Well... in May 2020 I will be running a marathon everyday for 30 days. Meaning I will run 26.2 miles a day, and 786 miles in total.

The marathons will take place every morning at the unit fitness in Huddersfield. Meaning you can come along and donate products or jump on the treadmill and run next to me!

I have the most amazing team behind me, and I am incredibly lucky to have so much support. Thank you for every like, share, comment and donation made. Each little bit of support goes an extremely long way!

I think this may be the hardest challenge I have ever taken on, both physically and mentally. But I hope you can be apart of my journey in anyway you can.

Thanks,

Ellie x
