Story
I am running the London marathon in April 2020 in memory of my niece, Minnie Westby, who died just before her 2nd birthday in January 2020. Minnie had cerebral palsy and epilepsy, she was unable to swallow and was fed through a tube, and she was unable to move much on her own. Every day was a struggle for her, but despite all of this, Minnie still managed to smile and had an infectious laugh, and she provided our family with pure happiness.
Caring for Minnie was a 24-7 task, and one which wouldn't have been possible without James Hopkins, especially her nurse, Jane. Their services are vital, both for the children they help, and their wider families, for support and respite.
The furthest I have ever run is a half marathon (and I always said this was my limit), so this is going to be a pretty tough ask, especially as I am aiming to complete it in under 4 hours 30 minutes.
I would be hugely grateful for any donation to help support this charity, and ensure that children like Minnie, and their families, can live as normal lives as possible.
James Hopkins Trust provides care and support for Gloucestershire’s families and their young children who are life limited or life threatened. Some parents will know their baby has a condition that will cause severe disability or shorten their life before they are born, other babies will be diagnosed soon after birth or in early childhood. Often no-one can tell you how long your child will live, only that they need constant care. James Hopkins Trust exists to help these children and their families.
