Supporting Sarcoma UK and Ellie's Action Fund by raising funds in celebration of Ellie Cooper as she goes through treatment for sarcoma.

Story

In July 2021 Ellie Cooper was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. Having just turned 18 and finishing her A-Levels, Ellie should have been readying herself to embark on her next adventure, moving away from home and going to university. Instead, Ellie has spent the last 8 months undergoing intensive treatment including Chemotherapy and Proton Beam Therapy, and is due to have surgery very soon.

So how is Ellie spending her spare time and energy? Ellie is selflessly dedicating it to raising funds and awareness for Sarcoma UK. In her own words: “The treatment I have received so far has been incredible, however, Sarcoma only receives 1 per cent of funds for research each year. This is quite a scary statistic. I want to be able to give back to places that have helped me so far.”

Why the Isle of Wight Challenge? One of Ellie’s favourite holiday spots and home from home, Milford On Sea, looks across to the Isle of Wight. Ellie is not able to take on this challenge herself right now so Team Ellie is going to take the challenge on for her. We will take on the epic 106km trek and 2080m climb on Saturday 30 April 2022. Which is nothing in comparison to the challenge Ellie has been facing every day.
