Hi, my name is Elliott. I am 9 years old and a really, really keen cyclist! I also LOVE Chester Zoo and I went there with my Dad and Sister in February, just before lockdown. It's an amazing place!
Recently, I found out that it costs £465,000 per month to look after all the animals and plants at Chester Zoo, and that 97% of their income comes from visitors. With COVID and lockdown, they've lost loads of visitors, and millions of pounds, and they were worried about maybe having to close forever!
So I REALLY want to help! I am going to ride the height of Mount Everest (8848m) on my road bike, raising money to help the zoo feed all their animals and keep going after lockdown. I'd love to raise a pound for every metre I climb!
In the month of July, I will by trying to ride up a local 3.7 mile circuit near my home a total of 52 times, ascending over 8848m and riding over 190 miles! The average gradient is 7% and it climbs from 175m to 350m. I have drawn a route map, picture of my bike, and Mt Everest and my Dad has helped me put them together on a fundraising poster. I hope you like it... It's on my page!
PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS YOU CAN AFFORD to help keep me going for all the 52 laps, and to help save the conservation work and all the amazing animals at Chester Zoo!
