Story
Hi guys!!
Thanks so much for visiting our page! So, you're here because it seems 2017 will be the year in which Alex and I lose our minds (Mum's is long gone by now...)!! Initially it started by signing up to the Big Battlefield Ride and then things snowballed and before he knew it, Alex was joining mum and they're registered for Ironman Copenhagen! We are also all signed up for Blenheim Triathlon in June, and have a few (YES FEW) half marathons booked in and mum is even trekking to Everest Basecamp this year. (I mean...?!?!)
The Big Battlefield Bike Ride will be particularly important to me this year as it is to Arnhem, Holland, which is where my grandfather won his Victoria Cross in WW2. The ride will be over 350 miles and will finish at the Bridge that my grandfather fought so hard to secure. I am incredibly excited to do this ride to honour not only him, but all the men that he fought with.
Alex's Ironman will be his first one and although he looks like a natural, he is in no doubt that this will be the hardest thing that he has ever and probably will ever do. The Ironman itself is made up for a 2.4 mile swim, a 115 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run, ALL IN ONE GO - he has already started training like a mad man and the event isn't for another year!
This truly will be a very big few months for both of us but that's okay because it is all in aid of Help For Heroes, a charity that we are very proud to support, that raises money and cares for our wounded sick and injured servicemen and women. Continued support for this charity is essential as, even though we are not currently at 'war', the scars that our boys and girls have sustained are life long, and they rely on the support of Help For Heroes. For that reason alone we would ask you to dig very deep!
We will keep you posted on our efforts, both training and events as we go and would welcome any support, big or small!
Thank you so much guys, all our love! E&A xxxx
