We fund life saving medical research to beat the world's biggest killers.

Story

On the 1st May 2016 our family were enjoying our annual Bluebell picnic, It is a family tradition, the sun was shining and we were all having a lovely day. Mum was seemingly happy, healthy and normal but when walking home she announced that she had no feeling in her am and then suddenly collapsed from a sudden cardiac arrest. This is when our world fell apart and lives changed forever. Members of the family were able to restart her heart and she made it to hospital which gave us time to thank her for everything she did and say our goodbyes; Mums life support was turned off on the 4th May 2016.

A couple of days before this Mum and I had been joking about the London Marathon; I would say every year that one day I would run it but as ever, never got around to applying. I will always remember her words 'When you do finally do it, I will be cheering you across the finishing line and will be incredibly proud of you'. There words are now stuck into my head and I want to make Mum proud, so I finally signed up for the marathon in her memory. I am very lucky to have been selected for a charity place for the British Heart Foundation (although I thought it would never happen) - this means an incredible amount to me and I will definitely be crossing the finishing line with tears in my eyes!

Not only will I be running this for Mum, I will also be running it for the British Heart Foundation it is an amazing charity and the more money that can be raised the more research they will be able to do into sudden cardiac arrests and potentially, perhaps one day they can help to prevent more family's being torn apart in a matter of seconds. It is not an experience I would wish even on my worst enemy.

I am not sure what I have set myself up for but I'm going to tackle it head on! It is going to be a struggle, running early before work and I may even have to give up a few nights out! To spur me on I am going to document my training and I hope you will follow me and I aim to extend my runs and make my times quicker. - Please follow my page on Facebook page to keep up with my progress over the next few months. https://www.facebook.com/groups/235830426819043/
