Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am challenging myself to knit one heart every day between Valentines Day and Easter, 50 in total. I started knitting these "hug in your pocket" hearts during lockdown to encourage and support friends around me who were juggling homeschooling, work and the general day to day uncertainty we are living through at the moment. It was a gesture of solidarity, hope and love. But now I'm a little bit addicted to knitting them!

I've chosen to support ChildLine after hearing a radio interview with someone from the NSPCC (who run ChildLine). There has been a massive increase in demand for their services over the last year as the effects of the pandemic have affected children and young people in so many ways. Impact on education, mental health, prolonged isolation, hunger, fear, anxiety and loss of loved ones have affected all children far and wide. So please help me support the vital work of ChildLine so that in their darkest moments someone will be there for them.

I will be distributing the hearts I make through friends and family but if you'd particularly like one or two to give to someone then please get in touch and I'll see what I can do. Thank you so much for your support. Xxx

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC
