Story

Alicia was born unexpectedly 10 weeks premature on 30/01/2003 she is now 13 years old. She was cared for on the neonatal unit at st marys hospital Portsmouth for 7 weeks, during her first few days of life she suffered a haemorrage to her brain, which resulted to her being diagnosed with cerebal palsy and hydrochepalus (fluid on the brain) at the age of just 6 months old.

Alicia underwent surgery to insert a vp shunt into her head to take control of the hydrochephalus!! These medical problems have left Alicia needing 24 hour care, which her parents Lee and Sharon undertake.

Alicia has 3 siblings Kayleigh (15) and twins Courtney and Scarlett (8). Despite her disabilities Alicia is a very happy princess.

Due to her physical disability Alicia suffers daily pain in all her limbs, which she has medication to help but intense therapies would help ease these discomforts that disturb her sleep on a daily basis.

We are currently fundraising as a family to install a through floor lift to give Alicia access to upstairs in our property and sleep with all the family. Once this has been funded and installed we would like sensory equipment ie special lighting and a Heated Water bed for her to relax on along with hydro therapy and physio therapy private treatment courses to releave her daily discomforts and possibly be free of pain in all her limbs, which is where Tree of Hope charity will help us fund raise for these much needed items and therapies.
